The Process of Preparing Young People to Leave the Children´s Homes

Abstract:

Předložená bakalářská práce se zabývá procesem přípravy mladistvých odcházejících z dětských domovů z důvodu zletilosti. Cílem práce je zmapovat teoretická východiska související s problematikou odchodu mladistvých do samostatného života a zároveň přinést pohled na sociální práci a výchovné činnosti v tomto procesu. Teoretická část vymezuje systém náhradní výchovné péče a její legislativní rámec, vývoj a snahu o transformaci tohoto systému, popisuje důvody pro umístění dítěte do institucionální péče a znaky ústavní a ochranné výchovy. Práce také definuje zařízení pro výkon ústavní a ochranné výchovy, specifikaci těchto zařízení, počty dětí a lůžkovou kapacitu ve státní péči. Popisuje rovněž pobyt dětí a mladistvých v těchto zařízeních ústavní péče a intervenci sociální práce v nich a následnou podporu mladistvých po odchodu z ústavní péče. Teoretickou část uzavírá charakteristika vybraných oblastí procesu přípravy na odchod z dětských domovů, se kterými se mladiství při tomto procesu setkávají. Cílem aplikační části je na konkrétním případu klienta dětského domova demonstrovat proces přípravy na jeho odchod z institucionální péče. Jako technika sběru dat byla použita analýza spisové dokumentace konkrétní klientky, která se připravuje na odchod z dětského domova z důvodu zletilosti. Pro specifikaci předkládaných informací byla analýza doplněna o expertní rozhovory s pracovníky dětského domova. Z výsledků výzkumného projektu vyplývá toto: Proces přípravy na odchod z dětského domova musí být důkladně naplánován a realizován. Do tohoto procesu jsou děti a mladiství zapojeni už při příchodu do institucionální péče. Důležitá je motivace dětí a mladistvých ke spolupráci a participace na procesu opuštění institucionální péče. Podstatné pro odcházející mladé lidi, kteří nemají podporu vlastní rodiny, je následná péče.

Abstract:

The submitted bachelor's thesis deals with the process of preparing adolescents to leave children's homes due to their legal age. The aim of the thesis is to map theoretical starting points related to the issue of starting independent living, while at the same time bringing closer the social work and educational activities in this process. The theoretical part defines the system of substitute educational care and its legislative framework, development and efforts to transform this system, describes the reasons for placing a child in institutional care and the characteristics of institutional and protective education. The thesis also defines facilities for the execution of institutional and protective education, specification of these facilities, number of children and inpatient capacity in state care. It also describes the stay of children and adolescents in these institutional care facilities and the intervention of social work in them and the subsequent support of the adolescents after leaving institutional care. The theoretical part concludes with the characteristics of selected areas of the process of preparing to leave children's homes that teenagers encounter in this process. The aim of the application part is to demonstrate the process of preparing to leave institutional care showing a specific case of a children's home client. An analysis of the file documentation of a particular client who is preparing to leave the children's home due to legal age was used as a data collection technique. To specify the information submitted, the analysis was supplemented by expert interviews with the staff of the children's home. The results of the research project show the following: The process of preparing to leave the children's home must be thoroughly planned and implemented. Children and adolescents are already involved in this process when they enter institutional care. It is important to motivate children and adolescents to cooperate and participate in the process of leaving institutional care. Follow-up care is essential for young people who do not have the support of their own family.
