Cretan Maritime Activities in the Hellenistic Period
Abstract:
Práce se věnuje námořním aktivitám v helénistickém období se zaměřením na Krétu. Mapuje přístavy působící v tomto období a také importované a lokální transportní amfory objevené na tomto ostrově. Dále se zabývá hypotetickými námořními obchodními trasami a hlavními proudy importovaného keramického zboží, stejně jako strategiemi transportu.
Abstract:
Thesis deals with maritime activities in the Hellenistic period focused on Crete. After historical overview the gazetteer of Cretan harbours is presented, then the attention is paid to the transport amphorae, imported and local. In the last chapter the maritime trade routes and strategy of transport are discussed on the basis of pottery assemblages, shipwrecks and historical evidence.
