Analysis of the Pandemic Crisis impact on the Czech airline Smartwings

Abstract:

Daná diplomová práce se zabývá analýzou postavení na trhu českého leteckého dopravce Smartwings v době pandemie, která je vyvolaná šířením koronaviru COVID-19. Cílem práce je zjistit, jakou pozici na trhu má aktuálně Smartwings v porovnání s její přímými a nepřímými konkurenty. Na začátku práce jsou vymezeny základní pojmy v letecké dopravě, základní charakteristiky provedených analýz v praktické částí a aspekty, tykající se šíření nového viru. Na první část se navazují praktická část, ve které se hodnotí postavení české letecké společnosti na trhu na základě provedených SWOT analýzy a Porterove analýzy pěti konkurenčních sil. Dále jsou vymezené silné a slabé stránky leteckého dopravce pomoci dotazníkového šetření. Průzkum je klíčovou části dané diplomové práce. Výsledky plynoucí z výše uvedených analýz jsou předpoklady pro navržené doporučení na konci praktické části.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis is devoted to the market position analysis of the Czech airline Smartwings during the coronavirus pandemic, which has been caused by SARS-CoV-2. The purpose of the diploma thesis is to find out, what market position does Smartwings have comparing to the competitive and potential rivals. In the beginning of the diploma thesis there were described main terms of the aircraft industry, basic knowledge description of conducted analyses’ characteristics and aspects regarding new coronavirus spread. The second part of the diploma thesis is devoted to evaluation of market position by conduction SWOT analysis and Porter’s 5 Forces analysis. Strengths and weaknesses were discovered by conducting questionnaire. This research is a key part of the thesis. Results of the conducted analyses are assumptions for the recommendation for Smartwings.
