Nursing management of constipation in a child

Abstract:

Cílem této přehledové bakalářské práce bylo vyhledat a sumarizovat publikované poznatky o obstipaci v dětském věku, a především shrnout informace o rizikových faktorech, terapeutických a preventivních metodách funkční zácpy u dětí. V práci jsou také zahrnuty některé role, kompetence a ošetřovatelské intervence dětské sestry v dané problematice. Všechny informace uvedené v této práci vychází z analýzy a syntézy dat z literárních zdrojů, které jsou buď primárního, nebo sekundárního charakteru. V průběhu rešeršní činnosti byly v některých elektronických databázích nalezeny výzkumné články, které odpovídají stanoveným kritériím a dílčích cílů bakalářské práce. Výsledky práce ukázaly, že jak farmakologické, tak i nefarmakologické metody, jsou užitečné při léčbě zácpy u dětí. Dále bylo zjištěno, že obstipace je multifaktoriální a rizikové faktory se liší s věkem. Za hlavní rizikový faktor vzniku zácpy u dětí byl shledán špatný životní styl. Zároveň bylo několikrát potvrzeno, že pozitivní účinek preventivních metod je individuální a věkově dependentní. Dle výsledků práce lze pro léčbu zácpy u dětí využít nejen konvenční terapii, ale také fyzioterapeutické metody a metody s psychologickými prvky. V rámci prevence by se pozornost měla věnovat také psychosociálním faktorům, které působí na dítě. Výsledky této práce lze využít pro doplnění znalostí dětských sester a dále jako pomůcku pro rodiče dětí trpící zácpou.

Abstract:

The aim of this review bachelor's thesis was to find and summarize published knowledge about constipation in childhood, and above all to summarize information about risk factors, therapeutic and preventive methods of functional constipation in children. The thesis also includes some roles, competencies and nursing interventions of the pediatric nurse in the issue. All the information presented in this thesis is based on analysis and synthesis of data from literary sources, which are either primary or secundary in nature. During the research activity, research articles were found in some electronic databases and they correspond to the established criteria and goals of the bachelor's thesis. The results of the work showed that both pharmacological, as well as non-pharmacological methods, are useful in the treatment of constipation in children. Furthermore, it was found that constipation is multifactorial and risk factors vary with age. A bad lifestyle was found to be the main risk factor for constipation in children. At the same time, it has been confirmed, that the positive effect of preventive methods is individual and age-dependent. According to the results of the work, not only conventional therapy, but also physiotherapeutic methods and methods with psychological elements can be used for the treatment of constipation in children. As part of prevention, attention should also be paid to psychosocial factors that affect the child. The results of this work can be used to expanding the knowledge of pediatric nurses and also as an aid for parents of children suffering from constipation.
