The establishment of a nuclear-free zone in the Middle East

Abstract:

Od roku 1994 Blízký Východ je potenciální bezjadernou zónou, ale rozhodující krok zatím nebyl udělán. Kvůli současným konfliktům v rámci regionu a napjatým vztahům mezi arabským světem a západní civilizaci Blízký Východ pravděpodobně nejvíc potřebuje vytvoření zóny bez jaderných zbraní, než jakékoliv jiný region. Takový krok by výrazně zlepšil situaci na lokální a globální úrovních, vytvořil atmosféru důvěry a pozitivně ovlivnil dynamiku chronických konfliktů. V diplomové práci bude udělán pokus analyzovat přístupy k problematice z pozic realismu a liberalismu.

Abstract:

Since 1994 the Middle East is a potential nuclear weapon free zone, but the crucial step has not yet been done. Due to current conflicts in the region and strained relations between the Arab world and Western civilization the Middle East needs a zone free of nuclear weapons more than any other region. Such step would significantly improve the situation at local and global levels, create an atmosphere of trust and positively influence the dynamics of the current conflict. In this work will be done an attempt to analyze the approaches to the issue from the standpoint of realism and liberalism.
