Life quality of patients with multiple sclerosis

Abstract:

Cíl: Cílem této bakalářské práce je zjistit kvalitu života u pacientů s onemocněním roztroušená skleróza mozkomíšní. Metodika: Metodou průzkumu bylo dotazníkové šetření, které bylo prováděno v období od června 2018 do února 2019 ve Fakultní nemocnici Ostrava a ve vybraných zdravotnických a sociálních zařízeních. Do souboru bylo zařazeno 131 respondentů, z toho bylo 40 mužů a 91 žen. Data byla sbírána pomocí dotazníku "Kvalita života pacientů s progresivním neurologickým onemocněním", který byl vytvořen v rámci projektu AZV MZ ČR a je zaměřen na hodnocení závažnosti symptomu, běžných denních činností, psychické, duchovní a sociální oblasti. Výsledky: Roztroušená skleróza je chronické, progredující onemocnění, které významně ovlivňuje kvalitu života. Z průzkumného šetření vyplývá, že kvalita života se u těchto pacientů liší dle pohlaví, věku i funkčního stavu hodnoceného škálou EDSS. U mužů byla v tomto průzkumu prokázána vyšší kvalita života než u žen, dále byla vyšší kvalita života zaznamenána u pacientů ve věku do 50 let než u starších 51 let a vyšší kvalitu života mají pacienti posuzovaní dle funkčního stavu hodnoceného škálou EDSS s nižším počtem bodů než 6. Závěr: Kvalita života u pacientů s roztroušenou sklerózou mozkomíšní se liší v oblastech běžných denních činností, v sociální, duchovní a také v psychické oblasti jejich života.

Abstract:

Aim: The aim of this bachelor thesis is to determine the quality of life in patients with disease called the multiple sclerosis cerebrospinal. Methodology: As the survey method was used the questionnaire survey conducted in the period from June 2018 to February 2019 in the University Hospital in Ostrava and in selected health and social facilities. 131 respondents were included in the sample, of which 40 were men and 91 were women. The data were collected using the questionnaire "Quality of life in patients with progressive neurological disease", which was developed within the project of Agency for Health Research of the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic and is focused on the assessing the severity of symptoms, routine daily activities and mental, spiritual and social areas. Results: Multiple sclerosis is a chronic, progressing disease that significantly affects the quality of life. From the survey investigation is resulting that the quality of life in these patients varies by gender, age, and functional status assessed by the Expanded Disability Status Scale. The men have been proven to have a higher quality of life than women, and higher quality of life has been recorded in patients below 50 years of age than in those above 51years. Patients judged according to functional status evaluated using the Expanded Disability Status Scale while achieving score below 6 also have a higher quality of life. Conclusion: The quality of life in patients with the multiple sclerosis cerebrospinal varies in areas of routine daily activities, in social, spiritual and also in the psychological field of their lives.
