Synthesis and photoisomerization of 2',6-bridged 1-([1,1'-biphenyl]-2-yl)-2-phenyldiazenes

Abstract:

Teoretická část této práce se zabývá publikovanými syntézami aromatických diazenů s detailnějším zaměřením na syntézu vycházející z hydrazinů. Rovněž jsou zde podrobněji rozebírány modernější metody syntézy pocházející z 21. století ilustrující pokrok v této oblasti. V další části je diskutována izomerizace na dvojné vazbě diazenů se zaměřením na fotoizomerizaci. V experimentální části je popsaná příprava a charakterizace 5 doposud nepřipravených aromatických diazenů, u nichž byla studována vzájemná přeměna konfigurace na diazenové dvojné vazbě, a to jak vlivem ozařování, tak i termicky. Ověřena byla i fotostabilita připravených diazenů. Pro jeden z nich byla realizován předběžný experiment C-H aktivace působením octanu palladnatého.

Abstract:

The theoretical part of this thesis describes existing synthetic routes leading to aromatic diazenes with a more detailed focus on the synthesis starting from hydrazines. More modern synthetic methods from the 21st century are also discussed illustrating progress in this field. In the next section, isomerization of diazenes is discussed, focusing on photoisomerization. The experimental part describes the preparation and characterization of 5 new aromatic diazenes for which their mutual E/Z-interconversion was also studied under irradiation or thermal conditions. Photostability of the prepared diazenes was also tested. Finally, a brief preliminary study of C-H activation of one prepared diazene with palladium(II) acetate was carried out.
