The Issue of Abortion in the USA and the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Tématem bakalářské práce je problematika umělého ukončení těhotenství v USA a ČR. V teoretické části jsme jako první shrnuli informace o spontánním potratu. Dále jsme popsali možné metody umělého ukončení těhotenství, jejich průběh a ošetřovatelskou péči před a po podstoupením interrupce. V závěru práce jsme uvedli historický a legislativní vývoj interrupcí ve Spojených státech amerických a České republice. V části praktické byl proveden kvantitativní průzkum pomocí dotazníkového šetření. Dotazník byl složen z osmi otázek soustřeďující se na pohlaví, věk, nejvyšší dosažené vzdělání, rodinný stav a jestli je respondent rodičem. Poslední otázka zjišťovala názory respondentů na umělé ukončení těhotenství a jestli by mělo být zákonné či nezákonné a za jakých podmínek. Dotazník byl distribuován pomocí sociálních sítí mužům i ženám ve věku 18 let a výše v České republice. Odpovědi respondentů v České republice byly následně porovnány s dotazníkem, který byl vytvořen společností Pew Research center v USA v roce 2022.

Abstract:

The topic of this bachelor thesis is the issue of abortion in the USA and the Czech Republic. In the theoretical part, we first summarized information about spontaneous abortion. We also described the possible methods of artificial termination of pregnancy, their course and nursing care before and after undergoing an abortion In the theoretical part, we first summarized information about miscarriages. In the end of the theoretical part, we provided a historical and legislative overview of abortion in the United States of America and the Czech Republic. In the practical part a quantitative survey was conducted using a questionnaire. The questionnaire consisted of eight questions focusing on gender, age, highest level of education, marital status, and whether the respondent is a parent or not. The last question asked for respondents' opinions on artificial termination of pregnancy and whether it should be legal or illegal and under what conditions. The questionnaire was distributed via social media to men and women aged 18 years and older in the Czech Republic. The responses of the respondents in the Czech Republic were subsequently compared with a questionnaire created by the Pew Research Center in the USA in 2022.
