Commented translation of a non-literary text about Astronomy from Spanish to Czech. Astronomy: Present and Past

Abstract:

The main objective of this thesis was a translation of a non-literary text of Astronomy and Astrophysics from Spanish into Czech. The thesis was divided into four main chapters. The first part contained a mirror translation with the original text located opposite its translation. We analyzed the original text thoroughly in the second chapter. The following part was dedicated to the translation methodology and to various difficulties we had to face while translating the text. The thesis was concluded with a glossary of forty-five selected terms. The result of this thesis is a translation of the text which has not been translated yet. After having applied several translation methodologies, we came to the conclusion that the translation of such text is impossible without basic knowledge of the disciplines or without a consultation with an expert in Astronomy and Astrophysics.

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem této diplomové práce byl překlad odborného neliterárního textu z oblasti astronomie a astrofyziky, a to ze španělského do českého jazyka. Práce byla rozdělena na čtyři hlavní kapitoly. První kapitola obsahovala zrcadlový překlad, kde proti sobě ležel výchozí text a jeho překlad. V druhé kapitole jsme se podrobně zabývali analýzou výchozího textu. Následující část práce byla věnována překladatelské metodologii, strategii a problémům, kterým jsme při překladu textu čelili. Práce byla zakončena glosářem čtyřiceti pěti vybraných odborných termínů. Výsledkem této práce je překlad dosud nepřeloženého textu. Po aplikování různých překladatelských postupů jsme dospěli k závěru, že je překlad takového textu prakticky nemožný bez základních znalostí daných oborů nebo případné konzultace s odborníkem na astronomii a astrofyziku.
