Payment cards security

Abstract:

The main focus of this master thesis is on the payment card security. In the first part, the autor is discussing the list of currently available cards and the potential risks of payment card fraud. The thesis gives detailed overview of the payment card security features with the emphasis on the description of chip technology. The second part discusses the principles of the operation of POS and ATP terminals and the fundamentals for the safe use of payment cards.

Abstract:

Diplomová práca je zameraná na problematiku bezpečnosti platobných kariet. Autor sa v prvej časti práce zameriava na prehľad dostupných kariet na trhu a na riziká zneužitia platobných kariet. Jadrom práce je podrobný opis ochranných prvkov platobných kariet, pričom autor sa sústreďuje hlavne na opis čipovej technológie. V závere práce sú opísané princípy funkčnosti POS a ATM terminálov a zásady bezpečného používania platobných kariet.
