The Library Web Accessibility for Visual Disabled Users

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou přístupnosti webových stránek pro zrakově hendikepované uživatele. Jejím cílem je uvést aktuální poznatky z této problematiky (oblasti), seznámit čtenáře s konkrétními pravidly a tato pravidla následně využít v praktické části, která je věnována testování webu a návrhu kroků, pro odstranění chyb z hlediska přístupnosti. Práce byla psána s ohledem na Nová pravidla přístupnosti, která jsou součástí vyhlášky č. 64/2008 Sb. (vyhláška o přístupnosti). Ze všech zmiňovaných skupin hendikepů jsem se zaměřila na zrakově hendikepované, nejvíce rizikovou skupinu uživatelů webových stránek. S problematikou přístupnosti webových stránek knihoven se snažím čtenáře seznamovat systematicky a v souvislostech s hraničními tématy – s použitelností, informační architekturou a obecnými zásadami webdesignu. Přístupnost by neměla být chápána odděleně od těchto témat, ani by neměla být chápána jako nadstandardní funkce webu. Jde o běžnou součást tvorby webových stránek, která se vlivem neznalosti autorů dlouhou dobu zanedbávala. Dnes je Internet neoddělitelnou součástí našich životů a není proto prostoru pro další ignorování potřeby webu, přístupného bez rozdílu pro všechny.

Abstract:

This thesis is concerned with the problems of accessibility of web pages for visualy disabled users. Its aim is to present actual findings from this area, to introduce concrete rules to readers and then use these rules in practical part, which is devoted to web testing and suggestions how to eliminate mistakes from the perspective of accessibility. This dissertation was written considering New rules of accessibility, which are part of public notice 64/2008 digest (Public notice about accessibility). I focused on visualy disabled from all mentioned groups of handicaps. This group is the most risk group of disabled users of web pages. I try to appraise readers systematically with problems of accessibility of web pages in libraries, in association with boundary topics- with usability, information architecture and general rules of webdesign. Accessibility should not be understood as separated from these topics, it also should not be understood as above standart web function. It is common part of web pages creation, which was neglected for a long time thanks to authors ignorance. Internet is inseparable part of our lives today and that is why there is no place for other ignoring of web pages needs, accessible without difference for everybody.
