Tato práce popisuje a analyzuje nejdůležitější a nejvýznamnější prvky židovského folklóru ve čtyřech vybraných povídkách Isaaca Bashevise Singera. Zkoumané elementy jsou rozděleny na mytologické, biblické, a na zvyky a tradice. První část práce se zabývá zasazením židovského autora Isaaca Bashevise Singera, do kontextu americké literatury.
