Lipids and their importance in biology and pharmacy

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá informacemi o lipidech a jejich významu v biologii a farmacii. V úvodní části práce je popsána struktura a metabolismus lipidů. Detailněji jsou popsány mastné kyseliny, jejich rozdělení a význam. V kapitole metabolismu je popsáno trávení a vstřebávání lipidů a beta-oxidace mastných kyselin. Dále jsou v práci popsány druhy lipidů, jako jsou jednoduché (acylglyceroly a vosky) a složené (fosfolipidy a glykolipidy) včetně jejich analytických metod. Práce se zabývá i reakcemi lipidů, jako například zmýdelnění a transesterifikace. Další kapitola je zaměřena na význam jednotlivých druhů lipidů ve farmacii, biologii a jejich funkce v lidském těle a rostlinách. V závěrečné části práce jsou popsány isoprenoidy, jejich analýza a význam.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis deals with information about lipids and their importance in biology and pharmacy. In the introductory part of the work, the structure and metabolism of lipids is described. Fatty acids, their distribution and importance are described in more detail. The chapter on metabolism describes digestion and absorption of lipids and beta-oxidation of fatty acids. The work also describes types of lipids, such as simple (acylglycerols and waxes) and complex (phospholipids and glycolipids), including their analytical methods. The work also deals with lipid reactions, such as saponification and transesterification. The next chapter is focused on the importance of individual types of lipids in pharmacy, biology and their functions in the human body and plants. Isoprenoids, their analysis and significance are described in the final part of the thesis.
