The aim of the present master`s thesis is a contrastive analysis of the emotion "joy" using the knowledge of the emotional linguistics. The selected expressions, serving to express and describe the joy, are analysed concerning their translatability based on equivalence theory from Koller. Die vorliegende Diplomarbeit setzt sich zum Ziel anhand der Kenntnisse aus der Emotionslinguistik eine translatologische Analyse der Emotion "Freude" durchzuführen. Die ausgewählten sprachlichen Mittel, die für den Ausdruck und das Beschreiben der Freude verwendet werden, werden im Hinblick auf ihre Übersetzbarkeit geprüft, und zwar mithilfe der Äquivalenztheorie nach Koller.
