Comparison of Slavic and Germanic pantheons

Abstract:

This work is devoted to the deities of the Slavic and Germanic pantheon in Czech-language subject literature and medieval texts. The purpose of the work is to analyze the available information about the Slavic and Germanic pantheons, taking into account that the Slavic pagan written sources on this topic, in contrast to the Germanic, have survived only in the description of beliefs. The result of the study is the reconstruction of the worldviews of the ancient Germans and Slavs in relation to the selected deities, as well as a comparative analysis of the selected representatives of the two pantheons.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce je věnována slovanským a germánským božstvům v česko-jazyčné literatuře a středověkých pramenech. Cílem práce je analyzovat dostupné informace o slovanském a germánském pantheonu s přihlédnutím k tomu, že prameny o slovanském pohanství, na rozdíl od germánského, se zachovali zejména v křesťanských pramenech. Výsledkem studie je rekonstrukce světonázoru starých Slovanů a Germánů ve vztahu k vybraným božstvům. Součástí je také komparativní analýza vybraných představitelů obou pantheonů.
