Sentiment and Stock market of emerging countries

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá vlivem sentimentu na rozvíjející se země. Tento vztah je zkoumánna vlivu sentimentu z rozvinutých zemí na země rozvíjející se. Zkoumanými rozvíjejícímise trhy jsou Indie, Rusko, Mexiko, Turecko a Brazílie. Co se týče rozvinutýchzemí, jakožto zdrojů sentimentu, jsou studovány trhy Německa, Velké Britániea USA. Ukazatelem sentimentu je implikovaná volatilita jednotlivých vyspělých trhů.Jako ukazatele výkonu rozvíjejících se trhů jsou využity jejich akciové indexy. Autoružívá ke kvantifikaci výsledků ekonometrický model VAR a Grangerovu kauzalitu.Výsledkem práce je zjištění, že indický akciový trh reaguje na sentiment plynoucíz všech zkoumaných vyspělých zemí. Rusko reaguje na změny sentimentu britskéhotrhu, zatímco mexický trh ovlivňuje sentiment z USA. Ostatní zkoumané země, jimižbylo Turecko a Brazílie, neovlivňuje sentiment z ani jedné zkoumané vyspělé země.

Abstract:

This thesis studies effect of sentiment in Emerging markets. More specifically investigatesmarket sentiment inflowing from developed markets and its impact onemerging markets. There are used developed markets’ implied volatility indices andindices of emerging markets to quantify the relationship between developed market’sentiment and emerging markets’ economies. The influence of Emerging marketsby sentiment deriving from developed markets is analysed by VAR model andGranger causality. The results of this thesis show that the Indian stocks market isinfluenced by all three developed markets investigated, which are USA, the UnitedKingdom and Germany. The Russian market is affected by sentiment from the UnitedKingdom. US’ sentiment produces significant impact on the Mexican stock market.Other analysed markets, which are the Turkish and Brazilian market, are not shownto be significantly influenced by any of the developed countries studied.
