Snaha o porozumění genetické variabilitě populací člověka je jednou z klíčových úloh genetiky. Použitím klasických a molekulárních markerů jsou zkoumány alelové četnosti v jednotlivých populacích a migrační vztahy mezi nimi. Genetika populací se uplatňuje také ve zkoumání evoluce člověka. Trying to understand the genetic variability of human populations is one of the key problems of genetics. Using conventional and molecular markers, allele frequencies and migration relationships between populations are examined. Population genetics is also applied in the study of human evolution.
