Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá uplatněním absolventů studijního programu Překladatelství anglického jazyka na Filozofické fakultě Masarykovy univerzity na trhu práce. Hlavním cílem této práce je analyzovat pracovní příležitosti absolventů a zjistit, jak absolventi vnímají možnosti uplatnění na trhu práce, profesi překladatele i současný trh s překlady. Teoretická část práce se zaměřuje na problematiku uplatnění absolventů terciálního vzdělávání a jejich specifické postavení na trhu práce, politiku terciálního vzdělávání a současné problémy překladatelského trhu. Empirická část se opírá o dotazníkové šetření a částečně čerpá z výzkumu Evy Novotné (2013) a přichází v klíčové době, kdy umělá inteligence a strojový překlad rychle transformují překladatelský průmysl a mění tradiční přístupy k vzdělávání a zaměstnání v tomto oboru. Sekundárním výstupem této práce je sběr dat, která budou použita k vytvoření databáze studijního programu PAJ.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the job opportunities for graduates of the English-language Translation study programme taught at the Faculty of Arts at Masaryk University in Brno in the labour market. The main objective of the thesis is to analyse the employment opportunities of graduates and explore how graduates perceive the profession of a translator as well as the current translation market. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on the employability of tertiary education graduates and their specific position in the labour market, the policy of tertiary education, and the current challenges of the translation market. The empirical part of the thesis conducted via a questionnaire survey and partially drawing on Eva Novotná’s 2013 study, arrives at a pivotal time, as artificial intelligence and machine translation rapidly reshape the translation industry, challenging traditional frameworks of education and employment in the profession. A secondary output of the thesis is the compilation of data that will serve as a foundation for a database of the ELT study programme graduates.
