This thesis focuses on modernization of the customs law of the European Union. There are four primary acts in the defined custom area – the Community Customs Code (so called „Modernised Customs Code“), the Common Customs Tariff, the Council Regulation setting up a Community system of reliefs from customs duty and finally the Council Regulation applying a scheme of generalised tariff preferences.
