Abstract:
This work is based on two goals. The first is to describethe fate of Jewish sacred buil-dings, and therefore synagogues, in five European countries – Slovakia, the Czech Re-public, Hungary, Poland and Germany. Why were the synagogues destroyed and how are those who survived the pitfalls of history, such as the Second World War and the socialist regime, treated. Východiskom tejto práce sú dva ciele. Prvým je priblížiť osud židovských sakrálnych stavieb, a teda synagóg, v piatich európskych štátoch – Slovensko, Česká republika, Maďarsko, Poľsko a Nemecko. Prečo boli synagógy rušené a ako sa zaobchádza s tými čo prežili nástrahy histórie, akými boli druhá svetová vojna a socialistický režim.
