Environmental taxes in the EU

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na ekologické daně v EU. V první části jsou popsány typy ekologických daní, legislativa a argumenty pro a proti zavádění ekologických daní. V druhé části se práce zaměřuje na význam ekologických daní v daňových mixech států EU v období 2005-2020 s využitím zdrojových dat od Eurostatu a OECD. Budou identifikovány země, ve kterých význam těchto daní rostl nebo klesal. V poslední části práce bude provedena korelační analýza změny významu ekologických daní v zemích EU v letech 2005-2020, kde budou analyzovány faktory, které tyto trendy potenciálně ovlivňují, jako jsou například ekonomická vyspělost nebo rozsah vypouštěných emisí. Bylo zjištěno, že ukazatelé HDP na obyvatele a objem emisí mohou ovlivňovat výši ekologických daní ve státech EU. V některých obdobích měly statisticky významný vliv i ukazatelé produktivita zdrojů a výdaje na ochranu životního prostředí.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on environmental taxes in the EU. The first part describes the types of environmental taxes, the legislation, and the arguments for and against the introduction of environmental taxes. In the second part, the thesis focuses on the importance of environmental taxes in the tax mix of EU countries over the period 2005-2020, using source data from Eurostat and the OECD. Countries where the importance of these taxes has been increasing or decreasing will be identified. In the last part, a correlation analysis of changes in the importance of environmental taxes in EU countries over the period 2005-2020 will be carried out, which will analyse the factors potentially influencing these trends, such as economic maturity or the volume of emissions. It has been found that GDP per capita and the volume of emissions can influence the level of environmental taxes in EU countries. In some periods, indicators such as resource productivity or expenditure on environmental protection have also had a statistically significant impact.
