Artificial cranial defformations and their possible influence on function of human brain (in historical populations)

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce je souhrnem literatury na téma umělých lebečních deformací a dalších informací, které s tímto tématem souvisí. Jsou v ní popsána složení a funkce lebky a mozku a jejich vzájemný vztah. Dále rozdělení lebečních deformací do jednotlivých skupin, popis a příklady přirozených deformací, které byly způsobeny patologickými změnami, příčiny náhodných umělých deformací způsobených vlivem nevhodného prostředí pro vývoj jedince, důvody záměrných umělých deformací a popisy některých jejich případů z celého světa. Závěrečnou částí je zkoumání vlivu uměle deformovaných lebek na mozek a posouzení rizik a problémů s tím spojených. Cílem je shromáždění dostupných informací a potvrzení nebo vyvrácení teorie, zda má uměle deformovaná lebka na mozek nějaký vliv.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the topic of artificial cranial deformation and other information which is related to this topic. It describes the compositions and functions of the skull and the brain and their relationship. Next part describes the division of cranial deformation into individual groups. The description and examples of natural deformations that were caused by pathological changes, causes accidental artificial deformations caused due to inappropriate environment for the development of the individual, the reasons for intentional artificial deformation is mentioned in the thesis. The final part research the effect of artificially deformed skulls on the brain and assessing the risks and problems associated with it. The aim of this thesis is to collect available information and confirm of refute the theory that artificially deformed skull has some effect on the brain.
