Chinese Ecological Cities: Utopian Vision or Functional Concept for 21. Century?

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá problematikou čínských ekologických měst, a akademickou debatou o nich. V práci jsou představeny jednotlivé vybrané projekty čínských ekologických měst, a názory odborníků na ně. Nechybí ani jejich kritika. Je také zkoumáno, jestli a jak se liší koncepce čínských ekologických měst od ekologických měst, tak jak jsou vnímána na Západě. Je zjištěno, že koncepce čínských ekologických měst se liší od té západní důrazem na ekonomický růst, ke kterému projekty přispívají, a také nedostatečným důrazem na sociální aspekt v těchto městech. Také je zjištěno, že existuje stále mnoho prostoru pro zlepšení v konkrétních projektech, přesto znamená stavba ekologických měst v Číně, že tamní vláda chce bojovat se znečištěním životního prostředí na svém území.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the issue of Chinese ecological cities, and with academical discussion about them as well. In this thesis there are described particular projects of Chinese ecological cities, and also expert´s opinions about them are revealed. There is also critical part. There is also investigated, if and how different is conception of Chinese ecological cities from perception of the ecological cities in the Western part of the world. It is found that conception of chinese ecological cities is different from the perception of the ecological cities in the Western part of the world in the emphasis on economical growth, which these projects are supposed to contribute to, and in the unsufficient emphasis on social aspect in these cities. It is also found that there is still a lot of room for improvement of these projects, but despite that building of ecological cities in China means that Chinese government wants to fight with the environmental pollution in its area.
