Analysis of rhythmic abilities and their influence on dance and movement expression

Abstract:

V práci jsme se zabývali diagnostikou rytmických schopností tanečníků a vyhodnocení jejich vlivu na vybrané aspekty tanečního a pohybového projevu. Výzkumný soubor tvořilo celkem 102 osob z toho 83 žen věkového průměru 25,32 roku a 19 mužů věkového průměru 20,66 roku. První částí měření byly rytmické schopnosti testovány netradiční metodou, pomocí softwaru Reaktometr, který jsme pomocí nastavení přizpůsobili k měření rytmických schopností, a proto použitý software nadále nazýváme Rytmometr. Jako další část měření byla schopnost tanečníků reprodukce rytmu. Zde jsme si zvolili základní pohybový a taneční prvek, chůzi. Měření jsme hodnotili odborným posuzováním za pomoci předem stanovené bodové škály. Výsledky z obou měření jsme podrobili statistické analýze pomocí neparametrického testu Spearmanova korelačního koeficientu. Z výsledků je patrné, že úroveň rytmických schopností ovlivňuje taneční pohybový projev, což je odpověď i na naši výzkumnou otázku VO 1. Nutno uvést, že rytmické schopnosti i reprodukci rytmu ovlivňuje více faktorů. Dále je třeba zdůraznit dodržení časového odstupu od jednotlivých měření, neboť tanečníci mají velmi dobrou pohybovou paměť a dochází tak k docilitě při měření. Pomocí statistických výsledků se potvrdily obě naše hypotézy. Testovaným osobám, věnují se tanci delší dobu se zlepšují rytmické schopnosti. Následně také platí to, že testované osoby věnující se tanci na výkonnostní úrovni, mají výrazně lepší rytmické schopnosti. V praxi by mohlo být toto měření přínosem pro testování sportovců v esteticko-koordinačních sportech u všech věkových skupin. Lze sestavit testovací metodu, která vyhodnotí úroveň reprodukce rytmu a pomůže při výběru osob nejen pro tanec, ale i pro sporty, kde je součástí rytmická reprodukce. Dále mohou být využity k sestavení testovací baterie, která umožní celkově zhodnotit rytmické schopnosti u sportovců jakéhokoliv sportu a následně možnosti jejich vzájemného porovnání.

Abstract:

This thesis is focused on the diagnostics of rhythmic abilities in dancers and the evaluation how the rhythmic abilities affect selected aspects of dance and movement expression. 102 participants, 83 women, mean age 25.32 years, and 19 men, mean age 20.66 years, were included in this study. The first part of the rhythmic abilities testing consisted of an unconventional method, the Reactometer software which was customized to measure the rhythmic abilities, named Rhythmometer. Second part of the measurement was testing the ability of dancers to reproduce the rhythm. A basic movement and dance element, walking, was chosen. This test was evaluated by an expert assessment using a predefined score scale. Results from both tests were statistically analysed using a non-parametric Spearman's correlation coefficient. The results show that the level of rhythmic abilities affects the dance movement expression, which is also the answer to our research question VO 1. However, it must be noted that several factors affect the rhythmic abilities and rhythm reproduction. It is also necessary to emphasize the time distance between the individual measurements, because dancers have a very good movement memory, enabling the movement memorizing during the testing. Results of the statistical analysis confirmed both of our hypotheses. Participants who have been dancing for longer time, have better rhythmic skills. Consequently, the participants who dance at the performance level have better rhythmic skills. In practice, this measurement may be beneficial for testing athletes in aesthetic and coordination sports for all age groups. Also, a testing method evaluating the level of rhythm reproduction may be created in order to help the talent selection not only for dancing but also for other sports where the rhythmic reproduction is important. Additionally, a test battery allowing an overall assessment of the rhythmic abilities in athletes of any sport may be used in comparison studies.
