Economic and social consequences of emigration from Azerbaijan on families left behind

Anotace:

The thesis contributes to the migration research by studying the situation of migrants and their families in the Republic of Azerbaijan. In particular, it explores the economic and social consequences of emigration from Azerbaijan on families left behind. Based on data of the EBRD (European Bank for Reconstruction and Development) in collaboration with the World Bank, which was carried out in 2006 and one in 2010 (Life in Transition Survey (LITS)) the thesis tries to find out the economic and social impact of migration on families left behind by identifying households with migrant members. In addition to the economic and social consequences, I write about gaps in the policy and assistance mechanisms of Azerbaijani migrants to protect their spouses and children in Azerbaijan, as well as some recommendations for Local Executive Authorities, such as municipalities, and International Organizations&NGOs.
