Factors influencing initiation of breastfeeding in the first days after giving birth

Abstract:

V dřívějších dobách bylo kojení pro ženy naprostou samozřejmostí, neměly s ním téměř žádné problémy. V dnešní době však stoupá procento těch, které vyžadují intenzivnější pomoc. Ale proč je tomu tak? Předkládaná bakalářská práce se zabývá faktory, které ovlivňují zahájení kojení v prvních dnech po porodu. Zaměřuje se převážně na ty nejdůležitější, a to je: předporodní příprava, způsob porodu, kontakt „skin to skin“ a samopřisátí dítěte na porodním sále a následná edukace matek od zdravotnického personálu. V teoretické části práce jsou mimo jiné popsány zásady BFHI, anatomie prsu a fyziologie laktace, nejčastější problémy při kojení. Dále jsou zde podrobně popsány vlivy jednotlivých faktorů. Cílem bakalářské práce je zjistit, které faktory mají na kojení největší vliv. Výzkum probíhal ve formě polostrukturovaných rozhovorů. Praktická část je zpracována ve formě kvantitativní studie, které se zúčastnilo 60 žen po porodu. Jejich odpovědi jsou zpracovány do tabulek a následně pro větší přehlednost i do grafů.

Abstract:

In earlier times, the breastfeeding used to be taken for granted and women had hardly any problems with it. Nowadays, however, a rising percentage of women need a more intensive help with it. What is the cause? This bachelor’s thesis deals with factors that influence the initiation of breastfeeding during the first days after the delivery. It focuses mainly on the most important factors – the antenatal preparation, the method of delivery, the “skin to skin” contact, the breast crawl in the delivery room and the subsequent education of mothers by medical staff. The theoretical part of this thesis describes among other things the principles of Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI), the breast anatomy, the physiology of breastfeeding and the most common relevant problems. A detailed focus is put on the influence of particular factors on breastfeeding. The aim of this thesis is to determine the factors with the greatest influence on breastfeeding. The related research was conducted in the form of semi-structured interviews. The practical part of the thesis is processed in the form of a quantitative study that was made among 60 women after the childbirth. Their responses are broken down into tables and into graphs for better clarity.
