Migration policy of the Slovak Republic

Abstract:

Migration is a significant social, economic and political phenomenon that has become the subject of much interest and debate in recent decades. Slovakia, as a Central European country, has been facing an increase in the number of migrants in recent years and the associated challenges and problems. The migration situation in Slovakia is marked by events in the world. If we accept the fact that the world population is migrating from less developed countries, we can predict that with the increase in the standard of living of the population of the Slovak Republic, there will be an increasing number of immigrants and a decreasing number of emigrants, which will eventually lead to an increase in the total population. It is expected that the migration balance of the Slovak Republic in the future will be influenced by the departure of the population seeking employment in developed countries and the arrival of the population from developing countries. Slovakia should clearly define the group of migrants it is interested in and create the conditions for attracting and retaining them. The aim of this thesis is to analyse and evaluate the migration, asylum and integration policy of the Slovak Republic in the context of current migration trends and challenges and to summarise the theoretical knowledge in the field of migration. The thesis focuses on political, legal and social aspects of migration policy in Slovakia. The theoretical part explains key concepts related to migration, its development, migration policy and its theories. In the next part, the thesis is oriented towards the analysis of migration, integration and asylum policies in the Slovak Republic in recent years, taking into account not only the legal framework, but also the political and social context. The output of the thesis is an assessment of the success of the migration, asylum and integration policies of the Slovak Republic and proposals for their further improvement. The thesis provides a comprehensive view of the current migration situation in Slovakia and contributes to the development of the country's migration policy.

Abstract:

Migrácia predstavuje významný sociálny, ekonomický a politický fenomén, ktorý sa v posledných desaťročiach stal predmetom rozsiahleho záujmu a diskusie. Slovensko, ako krajina strednej Európy, sa v posledných rokoch stretáva s nárastom počtu migrantov a s tým spojenými výzvami a problémami. Migračná situácia na Slovensku je poznačená dianím vo svete. Ak si pripustíme skutočnosť, že sťahovanie svetovej populácie prebieha z menej vyspelých krajín, možno predpovedať pri náraste životnej úrovne obyvateľov Slovenskej republiky, že bude dochádzať k narastajúcemu počtu prisťahovalcom a klesajúcemu počtu emigrantov, čo nakoniec spôsobí nárast celkového počtu obyvateľov. Predpokladá sa, že migračné saldo Slovenskej republiky bude v budúcnosti ovplyvnené odchodom obyvateľstva ktoré bude hľadať svoje uplatnenie vo vyspelých krajinách a príchodom obyvateľstva z rozvojových krajín. Slovensko by si malo jasne stanoviť, o akú skupinu migrantov má záujem a vytvoriť podmienky pre ich získanie a udržanie. Cieľom tejto diplomovej práce je analyzovať a zhodnotiť migračnú, azylovú a integračnú politiku Slovenskej republiky v kontexte aktuálnych migračných trendov, výziev a sumarizácia teoretických poznatkov z oblasti migrácie. Práca sa zameriava na politické, právne a sociálne aspekty migračnej politiky na Slovensku. V teoretickej časti sú vysvetlené kľúčové pojmy súvisiace s migráciou, jej vývojom, migračnou politikou a jej teóriami. V ďalšej časti je práca orientovaná na analýzu migračnej politiky, integračnej a azylovej politiky Slovenskej republiky v posledných rokoch, pričom sa zohľadňuje nielen právny rámec, ale aj politický a sociálny kontext. Výstupom práce je hodnotenie úspešnosti migračnej, azylovej a integračnej politiky Slovenskej republiky a návrhy na ich ďalšie zlepšenie. Práca poskytuje ucelený pohľad na súčasnú situáciu v oblasti migrácie na Slovensku a prispieva k rozvoju migračnej politiky krajiny.
