Presentation of the European work immigrants in Austrian press after the "Eastern enlargement of the European Union". Content and linguistic-stylistic comparison of the reporting in the premium and tabloid press

Abstract:

The aim of this master thesis is to compare the presentation of the work immigrants from the new member states of the European Union in the Austrian premium and tabloid press after the “Eastern enlargement of the European Union”. On the basis of this comparison are presented the differences between the reporting about the work immigrants in the premium and tabloid press. In the first theoretical part of the thesis are defined the terms “migration” and “work migration”, then the history of the European work migration and the history of the work immigration to Austria are described and finally the term “Eastern enlargement of the European Union” and its consequences for the Austrian work market are clarified. In the second practical part are presented the results of the research of the newspaper articles from the Austrian premium (Die Presse) and tabloid (Die Neue Kronen Zeitung) press relative to the work immigrants from the new member states of the European Union. Finally the content and the linguistic-stylistic site of these articles are compared.

Abstract:

Cílem této magisterské práce je porovnat prezentaci pracovních imigrantů z nových členských států Evropské unie v rakouském seriózním a bulvárním tisku po „Východním rozšíření Evropské unie“. Na základě tohoto srovnání jsou popsány rozdíly ve zpravodajství o pracovních imigrantech v seriózním a bulvárním tisku. V první teoretické části diplomové práce jsou definovány pojmy „migrace“ a „pracovní migrace“, dále je vylíčena historie evropské pracovní migrace a historie pracovní imigrace do Rakouska a v závěru je vysvětlen termín „Východní rozšíření Evropské unie“ a jeho důsledky pro rakouský pracovní trh. V druhé praktické části jsou prezentovány výsledky rešerše novinových článků z rakouského seriózního (Die Presse) a bulvárního (Die Neue Kronen Zeitung) tisku, jež se vztahují k pracovním imigrantům z nových členských států Evropské unie. Následně je porovnána obsahová a jazykově-stylistická stránka těchto článků.
