Special educator and his role in promoting active living for seniors living in senior residental housing

Abstract:

V dnešní populaci přibývá seniorů, kteří se dožívají velmi vysokého věku a potřebují dohled a péči v zařízeních sociální péče. Mnoho seniorů má zdravotní obtíže, na které je nutné při nástupu do sociálního zařízení brát zřetel a přizpůsobit jim poskytování sociálních služeb. Kromě základních sociálních služeb jako je dopomoc při hygieně je důležitá také složka aktivizační a zájmová. Pro klienty sociálních služeb může být volný čas velice zdlouhavý a těžko vyplnitelný. Důležitá je organizace volného času v různé míře dle potřeb klientů, ať už se jedná o různé vzdělávací aktivity, terapie, kulturní program či venkovní aktivity. Na těchto aktivitách se v zařízeních sociálních služeb podílí terapeuti, aktivizační pracovníci a také speciální pedagogové.

Abstract:

In todays population there is a growing amount of seniors, who live to a greater age and need control and care in social care centers. A lot of seniors have health problems, and upon their relocation to social care centers it is necessary to take this into account and adjust their provided social services. Outside of basic social services such as help with hygiene, sector activities and interests are also important. For clients of social services free time can be long and hard to fill up. Organization of free time according to their needs is important, it can be in the form of education, therapy, culture programs or outdoor activities. In social care centers, these activities are led by therapists, activation workers and special educators.
