Motivation of children in a Scout troop using role-playing games

Abstract:

Cílem práce je zjistit, zda zapojení her na hrdiny do skautského oddílu, z hlediska motivace jeho členů k různorodým činnostem, může být opřeno o teoretickou oporu a také zda má u dětí kladné ohlasy. V teoretické části ve stručnosti charakterizujeme skauting, hry na hrdiny a motivaci. V aplikační části, kterou pokládáme za klíčovou, podáme konkrétní variantu pravidel hry na hrdiny (tzv. Armandie) upravených pro skautskou činnost a pokusíme se o vhodné rozlišení metod motivací, které nám pravidla umožňují. V praktické části, která bude mít kvalitativní charakter, se pokusíme na základě řízeného rozhovoru s členy skautského oddílu, ve kterém se výše zmíněná metoda motivace praktikuje, odhalit, nakolik jsou tyto způsoby opravdu přínosné, popř. navrhnout možná vylepšení.

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis is to find out if the incorporation of role-playing games into a scout troop, in light of the motivation of its members to various activities, may be based on theoretical support and also whether it has positive reception among the children. In the theoretical part we briefly characterize scouting, role-playing games and motivation. In the application part, which we consider pivotal, we present a concrete variant to the role-playing game rules (so-called Armandia), modified for scouting activities, and we will attempt to suitably distinguish the motivational methods which the rules allow. In the practical part, which will have a qualitative character, we will attempt, on the basis of a directed dialogue with the members of the scout troop in which the above mentioned motivational method is practised, to discover how beneficial these methods actually are, and eventually suggest possible improvements.
