The role and dressing of a peripherally inserted central venous catheter (PICC) in the application of cytostatics

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce pojednává v teoretické části o historii a využití PICC katetrů u pacientů, u kterých je podávána chemoterapie. Dále první část bakalářské práce uvádí základní aspekty péče o pacienta se zavedeným výše zmíněným typem žilního vstupu, zásady převazu výše zmíněného žilního vstupu a komplikace, které mohou nastat v případě zanedbání péče o tento katetr. V praktické části se bakalářská práce zabývá komparací ošetřovatelského postupu převazu PICC ve zdravotnickém zařízení s postupem zveřejněným v národním ošetřovatelském standartu. Dále se v praktické části zabývá práce identifikací nejčastějších druhů krytí použitých při převazu výše zmíněného žilního vstupu, identifikací nejčastějších komplikací vyskytujících se u pacientů se zavedeným PICC. Posledním dílčím cílem práce je uvést specifika převazu PICC, u kterého se objevil erytém v místě inzerce katétru.

Abstract:

In the theoretical part, this bachelor's thesis discusses the history and use of PICC catheters for patients undergoing chemotherapy. Furthermore, the first part of the bachelor's thesis presents the basic aspects of patient care with the above-mentioned type of venous access, the principles of dressing the above-mentioned venous access and complications that may occur in the case of neglecting the care of this catheter. In the practical part, the bachelor's thesis deals with the comparison of the nursing procedure of PICC insertion in a medical facility with the procedure published in the national nursing standard. Furthermore, the practical part deals with the identification of the most common types of dressings used in the above-mentioned venous access dressing, and the identification of the most common complications occurring to patients with PICC. The last sub-goal of the thesis is to state the specifics of the above-mentioned venous access dressing, in which erythema appeared at the location of catheter insertion.
