Big data and Machine learning in Tourism recommendation systems

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá využitím velkých dat a strojového učení v doporučovacích systémech v odvětví cestovního ruchu. Práce provádí komparativní analýzu a syntetizuje závěry empirických studií z posledních deseti let týkajících se této problematiky. V první kapitole jsou představeny koncepty velkých dat a strojového učení, také jsou popsány základní principy, technologie a metody používané v těchto oblastech. Ve druhé kapitole jsou vysvětleny různé typy doporučovacích systémů a přístupy k jejich tvorbě, jsou nastíněny výzvy a problémy systémů. Třetí kapitola specifikuje doporučovací systémy v odvětví cestovného ruchu a uvádí metodiku, kterou byly nalezeny a zvoleny studie ke komparaci. Samotná komparace je provedena ve čtvrté kapitole a zaměřuje se na porovnání různých přístupů k návrhu doporučovacích systémů pro jednotlivé oblasti cestovního ruchu, na hodnocení účinnosti systémů, na jejich silné a slabé stránky.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the utilization of big data and machine learning in recommendation systems in tourism industry. The work conducts a comparative analysis and synthesizes the results of empirical studies from the last ten years on this topic. The first chapter introduces the concepts of big data and machine learning and describes fundamental principles, technologies and methods used in these areas. The second chapter explains different types of recommendation systems and approaches to their design, outlining challenges and issues in these systems. The third chapter specifies recommendation systems in the tourism industry and introduces the methodology used to identify and select the studies for comparison. The actual comparison is performed in the fourth chapter, focusing on the comparison of different approaches for designing recommendation systems for specific areas within tourism, evaluating the effectiveness of the systems and identifying their strengths and weaknesses.
