Properties, testing and development of composite chromium coatings for piston rings

Abstract:

Předložená dizertační práce se zabývá vývojem a testováním kompozitních galvanických povrchových úprav pro pístní kroužky. Rešerše v úvodu práce byla zaměřena na problematiku chromových povrchových úprav pístních kroužků a jejich testování. Byly zde uvedeny i již dříve uskutečněné experimenty na dané téma. V první části experimentálního programu byly připraveny vzorky několika různých povrchových úprav na bázi chromu. Jednalo se jak o povlaky již sériově vyráběné, tak o povlaky nové na bázi CR - UDDG. Vzorky povlaků byly deponovány na ocelový substrát. Povlaky byly testovány metodou "PIN-on-DISC", kde byla sledována otěruvzdornost a koeficeint tření. Hodnocení tribologických stop proběhlo několika způsoby. Na základě výsledků testu metodou "PIN-on-DISC" byla vybrána povrchová úprava, která byla použita k výrobě prototypu pístního kroužku. V druhé části experimentálního programu byla provedena zkouška v dieselovém spalovacím motoru. Připravené prototypy byly porovnány s kroužky, které měly sériově vyráběnou povrchovou úpravu BCr (chromkeramika). Při testu byla sledována otěruvzdornost povlaků. Výsledky testu metodou ?PIN-on-DISC? a zkoušky ve spalovacím motoru byly porovnány.

Abstract:

Submitted thesis deals with the development and testing of composite galvanic coatings for piston rings. The literature search in the introduction was focused on the issue of chromium coatings for piston rings and their testing. There were also mentioned previously realized experiments on this topic. In the first part of the experimental program there were prepared samples of several different chromium based surface treatments. There were prepared both already mass- produced coatings and new coatings Cr - UDDG. Samples of coatings were deposited on a steel substrate. Coatings were tested using the ?PIN-on-DISC? method, where wear resistance and coefficient of friction were evaluated. Evaluation of the tribological track was performed in several ways. Type of coating used for manufacturing of prototypes for diesel engine was determined from results of "PIN-on-DISC" method. In the second part of the experiment there were prototypes tested in diesel engine. New prototypes were compared with the already mass-produced coating BCr (chromium-ceramics). The results of "PIN-on-DISC" method and test in combustion engine were compared.
