Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá genderovou segregací lékařů a lékařek v prostředí nemocnic České republiky z úhlu pohledu vedoucích pracovníků lékařských oddělení. Poznávacím cílem práce je hloubkové pochopení pohledu osob v nadřízených pozicích na genderovou segregaci lékařů a lékařek. Konkrétně na segregaci horizontální a vertikální, včetně jejich příčin a důsledků. Diplomová práce rozšiřuje dosavadní poznatky této problematiky o pohled osob ve vedoucích pozicích lékařských oddělení. Práce se skládá ze tří částí. V teoretické části práce jsou vymezeny základní pojmy vztahující se k genderové segregaci trhu práce. Dále jsou představena specifika zaměstnávání lékařů a lékařek v České republice. Druhá část popisuje metodiku provedeného výzkumu a třetí část se věnuje analýze a interpretaci získaných dat. Vedoucí pracovníci lékařských oddělení si uvědomují přítomnost segregace. Za její hlavní příčiny považují náročnost povolání lékař, fyzickou namáhavost některých medicínských oborů, kulturní a sociální zvyklosti a obtíže při slaďování práce a rodiny. Mezi projevy řadíme nesvobodu v rozhodování, odkládání mateřství a odchod do soukromého sektoru.

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on the gender segregation in the Czech medical field from the perspective of the chief physician in the department. It aims to explore and understand the opinion on gender segregation of physicians at the management level. This includes both the horizontal and vertical segregation as well as their causes and effects. The thesis undertakes to extend the existing knowledge on this issue from the perspective of people in leadership positions of medical departments. The work consists of three parts. The theoretical part of the thesis defines basic concepts related to gender segregation of the labour market and describes the specifics of employing doctors in the Czech Republic. The second part describes the research methodology. Lastly, the third part deals with the analysis and interpretation of results. Chief staff of medical departments in the Czech Republic are aware of the presence of segregation. Its main causes include the demands of the medical profession, the physical exertion of certain medical disciplines, cultural and social habits, and difficulties in reconciling work with family life. This is manifested by a lack of freedom in decision making, postponing motherhood or exiting to the private sector.
