Analysis of the influence of surface roughness on the corrosion behavior of selected titanium alloys

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je zaměřena na vliv drsnosti na korozní chování komerčně čistého titanua titanové slitiny Ti-6Al-4V v korozním prostředí solné mlhy, v časech 168, 240, 480 a 720 hodin a fyziologického roztoku, v časech 24 a 48 hodin. Teoretická část je věnována obecnému vztahu koroze a jejího rozdělení. Další kapitoly jsou zaměřeny na korozi titanu a titanových slitin. Následuje kapitola zabývající se drsností povrchu. Práce se dále zabývá tím, jaké jsou způsoby hodnocení korozního napadení a v poslední kapitole je charakterizovaná zkoumané slitina Ti-6Al-4V a její korozní odolnost. V experimentální části je uvedena příprava jednotlivých vzorků broušením a následným leštěním a pomocí elektronového mikroskopu jsou experimentální vzorky dokumentovány a následně vyhodnocovány. Práce dokazuje vliv drsnosti a doby korozního zatížení na korozní odolnost a vznik korozní vrstvy na povrchu zkoumaných experimentálních vzorků.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis is focused on the effect of roughness on the corrosion behaviour of commercially pure titanium and titanium alloy Ti-6Al-4V in corrosive environment of salt spray, at times of 168, 240, 480 and 720 hours and saline solution, at times of 24 and 48 hours. The theoretical part is devoted to the general corrosion relationship and its distribution. Other chapters focus on corrosion of titanium and titanium alloys. This is followed by a chapter dealing with surface roughness. The thesis also discusses what are the methods of assessing corrosion attack and the last chapter characterizes the Ti-6Al-4V alloy under investigation and its corrosion resistance. In the experimental section, the preparation of the individual samples by grinding and subsequent polishing is presented and the experimental samples are documented and subsequently evaluated using an electron microscope. The work demonstrates the effect of roughness and corrosion loading time on the corrosion resistance and the formation of a corrosion layer on the surface of the investigated experimental samples.
