Modifying meanings of wuwei and ziran in the Laozi and the Hanfeizi

Abstract:

Předkládaná bakalářská práce se zabývá komparací pojmů ziran a wuwei ve dvou klasických dílech čínské starověké literatury Laozi a Hanfeizi. Práce je uvozena nastíněním základních východisek taoismu a legismu, spolu s představením klíčových pojmů a idejí obou zkoumaných textů. Dále následuje zevrubná analýza konceptů ziran a wuwei postupně v Daodejingu a Hanfeizi. Práce popisuje a srovnává odlišnosti v obsahu i formě, v níž se oba termíny projevují a jsou používány v jednotlivých dílech. Během komparace i v závěru se práce pokouší dokázat, že ačkoliv koncepty ziran a wuwei nabývají v dílech Laozi a Hanfeizi odlišných významů, tak při jejich převedení do praktické roviny správy státu můžeme u obou nalézt obdobné metody využívané k dosažení stejných cílů.

Abstract:

Bachelor´s thesis is dedicated to comparison of terms ziran and wuwei in two classical texts of ancient Chinese literature Laozi and Hanfeizi. An introduction to bachelor´s thesis contains description of main ideas and theoretical bases of both daoism and legalism, along with explanation of key concepts of both texts. Thesis further analyses the concepts of ziran and wuwei in Daodejing and Hanfeizi. Body of thesis contains comparison of differences in content and form of both analyzed terms. Goal of the thesis is to prove that although ziran and wuwei constitute different meaning in these two texts, when put into practice we can detect same methods used for achieving same goals.
