Data analysis of Mensa Czechia fluid intelligence test results

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je zaměřena na analýzu výsledků nově vyvíjeného testu fluidní inteligence, jehož tvorbě se věnuje nezisková organizace Mensa Česko. V teoretické části je rozebírán pojem inteligence a způsoby jejího měření. Část je také věnována organizaci Mensa Česko. V praktické části práce pojednává o principu fungování úloh maticového typu a úloh s číselnými řadami. Následně se věnuje analýze reálného datového souboru testovaných dobrovolníků. Za využití statistických metod práce odhalila zajímavé souvislosti. Bylo například zjištěno, že muži v testu dosahují v průměru vyššího počtu bodů než ženy, a to o přibližně 2 body. Dále se ukazuje, že průměrný počet získaných bodů u testovaných je 22,95. Nejčastěji dosahovali testovaní výsledku 24 bodů z celého testu. Nejvyššího průměrného počtu bodů dosahují testovaní z Ústeckého kraje. Úspěšnější zároveň bývají lidé pocházející ze sídel o velikosti 10 000 – 100 000 obyvatel. Nejméně výsledků v kategorii nízké úspěšnosti je mezi testujícími s vysokoškolským vzděláním. V práci je také popsáno, jak by mělo být upraveno pořadí otázek v novém testu, aby otázky byly seřazeny dle obtížnosti vzestupně.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis focuses on a newly developed test of fluid intelligence, developed by the non-profit organization Mensa Czechia. In the theoretical part, the concept of intelligence and ways of measuring it are discussed. This part is also dedicated to the Mensa Czechia organization. In the analytical part, the thesis deals with the principles of solving matrix-type and number series problems. Subsequently, it deals with the analysis of a real data set of volunteers, who participated in the testing. It also shows that the average score of the test takers is 22.95. Test takers most often scored 24 points on the entire test. Test takers from the Ústí nad Labem region achieved the highest average score. At the same time, people from settlements of 10 000 - 100 000 inhabitants tend to be more successful. The lowest scores in the low achievement category are among test takers with a university degree. The thesis also describes how the sequence of questions in the new test should be adjusted, so that questions are ranked in ascending order of difficulty.
