Social aspects of on-line virtual worlds and its impact od individual's life

Abstract:

Anotace Ústřední tématem této diplomové práce jsou sociální aspekty herních virtuálních online světů a jejich přesah do života lidského jedince. Teoretická část je koncipována do třech samostatných kapitol. První kapitola se zaobírá základním vymezením a definováním fenoménu virtuálních světů a to především v rovinně sociální. Druhá kapitola se zabývá samotnou subkulturou hráčů virtuálních světů a jejími jednotlivými atributy a aspekty. Poslední kapitola teoretické části se zaměřuje na problematiku vztahu lidského jedince a jeho virtuálního já a to zejména z pohledu psychologického procesu identifikace a krize identity. V praktické části je prezentován kvalitativní výzkum, který byl směřován především na identifikování, vymezení a popsání jednotlivých sociálních aspektů herního virtuálního světa World of Warcraft a jejich vztahu vůči lidskému jedinci. Dále jsou zde uvedena získaná data, jejich vyhodnocení a konečné výsledky výzkumu.

Abstract:

Abstract The main topics of this diploma thesis are social aspects of on-line game virtual worlds and their impact on the life of human beings. The theoretical part is divided into three separate chapters. The first chapter looks at the basic characteristics and definitions of the virtual worlds, mainly on the social level. The second chapter deals with the virtual world players’ subculture itself and its attributes and aspects. The last chapter of the theoretical part focuses on the relationship between human beings and their virtual Self mainly seen from the angle of the psychological process of identification and identity crisis. The practical part includes a presentation of a qualitative research, which is pointed mainly at the identification, determination and description of the individual social aspects of the virtual game world the World of Warcraft and their relation to a human being. The obtained data are listed and analysed here as well as the final results of the research.
