Payment Cards

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je zaměřena na téma platební karty. Cílem práce je popsat historii, vznik, vývoj, druhy, náležitosti a bezpečnost platebních karet. Pramenem informací je odborná literatura, internet a informace získané od Komerční banky, a.s. Cenným zdrojem informací mě byli též specialisté Komerční banky, a.s. na bankomaty a platební karty. Tato diplomová práce vysvětluje pojmy související s platebními kartami, popisuje asociace vydávající platební karty jako VISA, MasterCard a historii platebních karet v České republice. Praktickou část jsem zaměřil na bezpečnost platebních karet. Popsal jsem ochranné prvky jako, jakým způsobem dochází k zneužití, jak se zachovat v případě zneužití platební karty, jak funguje a jak se rozpoznává podvodné zařízení nainstalované na bankomatu. Zpracoval jsem statistiku, jak se na bezpečnost platebních karet dívají zaměstnanci Komerční banky, a.s. a porovnal jsem to s názorem klientů. Pro přehlednost jsem vyjádřil výsledky průzkumu v grafech. Závěrem diplomové práce jsem věnoval pozornost budoucnosti a metodám ověřující totožnost majitele platební karty. Vzhledem k tomu, že je stále větší důraz na bezpečnost platebních karet, měly by se pravděpodobně tyto metody implikovat ve světě platebních karet.

Abstract:

The thesis is focused on the topic of payment cards. The target of the thesis is to describe birth, development, history and security elements. The main resource is professional literature, individual websites of different banks and informations obtained from Komercni Banka a.s. Very important resource bacame employees of Komercni Banka working as a specialists in ATM and payment cards. This thesis explains payment cards terms, describes the association issuing payment cards as VISA, MasterCard and history of payment cards in the Czech Republic. In the practical part of my thesis I focused on security of payment carts. I described security elements, the way how a payment cards can be misused, how to behave in case of misusing payment card, how works and how to recognize fraudulent devices installed on the ATM. I have carried out the statistic how the security of payment cards the employees of Komercni Banka see and I compared the results with the opinions of clients. To make it transparent I explained my results in graphs. At the end of the thesis I focused on the future and methods that verify identity of owner of payment card. Since the higher security of payment cards is emphasized, this methods should be used in the future.
