Use of ICE middleware for monitoring from a mobile environment

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou distribuovaných klient-server systémů postavených na architekruře middleware. První část práce se věnuje vysvětlení pojmu middleware, popisu několika jeho implementací a také jeho současným nasazením v praxi. Ve druhé části se pak věnuji popisu platformy ICE, jejích možností a dále také popisu jazyka Slice. Třetí část práce je zaměřená na popis mobilní platformy Android a možností řešení komunikace se serverem. Další část se zabývá návrhem aplikace na této platformě určené ke vzdálenému monitoringu serveru, dále pak služby fungující jako brána a v neposlední řadě pak návrhem aplikace pro server v jazyce C# a jejich následnou implementací. V samotném závěru práce vyhodnocuji použitelnost navrženého systému a možnosti jeho dalšího rozšíření.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the problematics of distributed client-server systems, that are built on middleware architecture. The first part of thesis is devoted to an explanation of the concept of middleware, a description of several of its implementations, as well as its current deployment in practice. In the second part, I am devoted to a description of the ICE platform, its principles, options and the Slice language too. The third part of thesis is focused on the description of the Android mobile platform and of the solutions to access to the server. Another section deals with design of an application on this platform, used for remote monitoring of server, a gateway service, and last but not least, with a design of server application in C# language, and with their subsequent implementation. In the very end of thesis, I evaluate applicability of the proposed system and the possibility of further extension.
