Web-based information system for tourists visiting Nepal

Abstract:

This project highlights the importance of information system and its impact in the modern world. The development of web-based information over traditional information system has become the valuable tools for any business organization to run effectively. It is the process for any small and big organization to organize, communicate and store data and information in cost effective and time efficient manner. In order to design and model a robust information system, it is necessary to have a tool for initial planning, design, analysis and requirements. In this case UML come into rescue. In this web application, following the UML’s footprint provides the idea about the initial planning, design, and implementation of system with an ease. It depicts the process of communication and relationship between the application model. It is the standard for visualizing the architectural design of a system in a diagram. In the literature review, the brief history and origin of the UML along with software development life cycle is discussed. The software development phases gather the information, product description from the targeted customer following the preparation of hardware and software requirements. It defines the overall software architecture. The implementation phase is the developers translates into source code and finally testing and deployment are done after the software is free from errors and meets the requirements. Similarly, the other part describes the uses of UML diagrams that show the relationship between the elements and their communication. The two types of diagram, structural diagram show structural or semantic relationship. On the other hand, UML behavioural diagram depict the dynamic behaviour of an element in a system that are dependent on time and how they relate to each other. After designing the prototype of an application, the next step is to build and actual application using WordPress. The primary focus of an application is to share information about popular tourist destination in Nepal. The prototype of web application is developed using the class model, interaction model and state model and their respective UML diagram.
