Determination of content of odd fatty acids at EDTA plasma of type 2 diabetic patients

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá studiem metabolismu lipidů u diabetiků typu 2 se zaměřením na liché mastné kyseliny. Obsahem práce je stručný náhled na klasifikaci, charakterizaci lipidů a obecně jejich metabolismus v těle. Druhá část popisuje diabetes mellitus, jeho rozdělení se zaměřením na diabetes mellitus typu 2 a jeho patologii se zaměřením na metabolismus lipidů. Třetí část stručně popisuje principy a použité metody v experimentální části, zejména extrakci lipidů, tenkovrstvou a plynovou chromatografii. Cílem práce je změření hodnot lichých mastných kyselin v EDTA plazmě diabetiků typu 2 a kontrol a zjištění korelace mezi těmito hodnotami pomocí statistických metod.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with study of metabolism of lipids in type 2 diabetics focusing on oddnumbered fatty acids. Thesis content is brief insight on clasification, characterization of lipids and their common metabolism in human body. Second part describes diabetes mellitus, its division focusing on diabetes mellitus type 2 and its lipid metabolism. Third part describes principes and used methods in experimental part, especially lipid extraction, thin layer chromatography and gas chromatography. The main goal of thesis is to determine concentrations of odd-numbered fatty acids in EDTA plasma of type 2 diabetics and controls and find corelations between those values using statistical methods.
