Influence of contributor properties on OpenStreetMap data quality

Abstract:

Diplomová práce zkoumá, jak mohou vlastnosti přispěvatelů ovlivňovat kvalitu dat OpenStreetMap. Zpracovávanými daty jsou body POI a zastávky v buňkách gridu na území města Brna. Analyzovány jsou vlastnosti dat (množství atributů a verzí, stáří editací apod.) a vlastnosti přispěvatelů (počet editací, použitý software, aktivita přispěvatelů apod.). Dále se zkoumá, zda je možné na data pro město Brno aplikovat pravidlo 90-9-1. Pro zvolená data je měřena jejich úplnost a polohová přesnost. Nakonec jsou zjišťovány souvislosti mezi kvalitou dat a vybranými vlastnostmi dat prostřednictvím Moranova indexu I, metody LISA a metody OLS. Podle Moranova indexu I bylo zjištěno, že polohová přesnost má náhodné rozmístění. Nadbytečné a chybějící body tvoří shluky. Metoda LISA tato zjištění potvrdila. Podle metody OLS mají nadbytečné a chybějící body a celkový počet bodů v buňkách gridu stejný prostorový vzor v území.

Abstract:

The thesis examines how the properties of contributors can affect the quality of OpenStreetMap data. The processed data are POIs and stops in grid in Brno. Data properties (number of attributes and versions, age of edits, etc.) and properties of contributors (number of edits, software used, activity of contributors, etc.) are analysed. It is further examined whether it is possible to apply rule 90-9-1 to the data for the city of Brno. For the selected data, their completeness and positional accuracy are measured. Finally, the relationships between data quality and selected data properties are determined using the Moran's I, the LISA method and the OLS method. According to Moran's I, positional accuracy was found to have a random distribution. Redundant and missing points form clusters. The LISA method confirmed these findings. According to the OLS method, redundant and missing points and the total number of points in the grid have the same spatial pattern in the territory.
