The motif of inhabited space in the universe of Zola

The aim of this bachelor´s thesis is to show the role of space and the way it is represented in three selected novels by Émile Zola - L'Assommoir, Nana and The Beast in Men. The theoretical section focuses on space as a narratological category, introduces the novelist and his literary output, and concludes with a presentation of naturalism and the Rougon-Macquart novel cycle.
