The religiosity of japanese minority in Czech republic

Abstract:

Na základě kritiky současných výzkumů religiozity migrantů, jsem představila návrh metodologie vycházející z předpokladů teorií transnacionalismu a čerpající z metody chápajícího rozhovoru. Metoda získávání a analyzování dat hlavních 8 rozhovorů s Japonci, kteří v České republice dlouhodobě pobývají, umožnila rozkrývat hlubší roviny sdělení týkajících se jejich vztahu k náboženství. V některých případech se zjištění významně odlišovala od jejich původních jednoznačně působících tvrzení. Při takto vedeném rozhovoru respondenti utvářeli životní post-imigrační příběh, jehož součástí bylo v mnoha případech i téma náboženství, a to ve formě v jaké oni sami toto téma pojali. Pro analýzu materiálu byl ústřední koncept identit. Metoda chápajícího rozhovoru mi umožnila nahlédnout procesy formování těchto identit – jejich mnohočetnost, fragmentovanost a nestálost. Výsledky šetření ukazují, že 1/ ne všichni migranti si vytvářejí transnacionální identity, 2/ metoda chápajícího rozhovoru umožnila některým respondentům formovat vlastní individualizované a fragmentované náboženské identity a 3/ ne všechny náboženské identity migrantů lze považovat za transnacionální.

Abstract:

Based on critics of contemporary research on migrants’ religiosity I have proposed a methodology that builds upon the postulates of theories of transnationalism and draws on the method of understanding interview. The method of gaining and analysing the conducted interviews with eight Japanese living long-term in Czech Republic allowed me to uncover the deeper levels of claims concerning their relationship to religion. In some cases the findings rapidly differed from their original claims. During the interview respondents were telling their post-immigrant life stories some of which contained the topic of religion in a form they themselves embraced it. The concept of identities was central for the analysis. The method of understanding interview allowed me to see the processes of forming identities; to see them as multiple, fragmented and instable. The results of research show that 1/ not all migrants create transnational identities, 2/ the method of understanding interview allowed some respondents to form their own individualized and fragmented religious identities, 3/ not all religious identities of migrants can be apprehended as transnational.
