Affective and Cognitive Factors in the CAMIL

Abstract:

Imerzivní virtuální realita (IVR) je stále častěji využívána ve vzdělávání, ačkoliv výzkumníci upozorňují na problém absence jednotného teoretického rámce. Kognitivně-afektivní model imerzivního učení (CAMIL) identifikuje afordance IVR, technologické faktory, které je určují, a vztahy těchto afordancí ke kognitivním a afektivním faktorům ovlivňujícím proces učení. Diplomová práce analyzuje tyto vztahy a nachází četné nesrovnalosti, kvůli kterým nelze model považovat za přesvědčivý. Následně diskutuje důsledky pro model a možné návrhy na zlepšení.

Abstract:

Immersive virtual reality (IVR) has gained popularity as an educational medium. Yet, researchers frequently cite the lack of a unified theoretical framework as a problem for the field. The Cognitive Affective Model of Immersive Learning (CAMIL) describes the process of learning in IVR by identifying its affordances, their technological antecedents, and their relationships to cognitive and affective factors that influence learning. This thesis evaluates the links between IVR affordances and the affective and cognitive factors presented in the CAMIL, finding multiple inconsistencies that render the model unconvincing. Implications for the model and suggested improvements are discussed.
