Structure and activity analysis of Mg/Al and Zn/Al mixed oxides in aldolization and transesterification

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá přípravou, charakterizací a následným využitím Mg-Al a Zn-Al směsných oxidů, jakožto atraktivních pevných bazických katalyzátorů. Materiály byly charakterizovány pomocí XRD, TGA/DTA a XRF. Charakterizace bazických center byla provedena pomocí TPD-CO2. V první části diplomové práce je pozornost soustředěna na syntézu Mg-Al směsných oxidů s vyšším relativním zastoupením silných bazických center. Na základě literární rešerše byly vybrány dva odlišné způsoby syntézy. Za pomoci TPD-CO2 byla u připravených materiálů byla studována jejich bazicita a distribuce bazických center, přičemž pozornost byla zaměřena i na srovnání získaných výsledků s publikacemi, na základě kterých byly dané materiály připraveny. Aktivita Mg-Al směsných oxidů s odlišnou distribucí bazických center byla studována v aldolizaci a transesterifikaci. Ve druhé části diplomové práce je pozornost soustředěna na syntézu, charakterizaci a katalytickou aktivitu Zn-Al směsných oxidů. Na základě literární rešerše byly vybrány čtyři odlišné způsoby syntézy. Aktivita Zn-Al směsných oxidů byla zkoumána ve dvou modelových reakcích (transesterifikace a aldolizace), které vyžadují bazický katalyzátor.

Abstract:

The Master?s thesis deals with the synthesis, the characterisation and further applications of Mg-Al mixed oxides, which are known as attractive basic catalysts. Materials were characterized by XRD, TGA/DTA and XRF. The characterisation of basic sites was realized by TPD- CO2. In the first part the attention is focused on the synthesis of Mg-Al mixed oxides with a higher relative amount of strong basic sites. Two different types of synthesis were chosen based on the literature research. The basicity of mixed oxides was measured by TPD- CO2. There was studied the basicity and the strength of basic sites. The attention was also focused on the comparison of the basicity with the basicity values and TPD experimental conditions used in the literature on which the materials were synthesized. Mg-Al mixed oxides with different distribution of basic sites were studied in aldolisation and transesterification. In the second part the attention is focused on the synthesis, the characterisation and the catalytic activity of Zn-Al mixed oxides. Four different types of synthesis were chosen based on the literature research. The activity of Zn-Al mixed oxides was studied in two model reactions (transesterification and aldolisation) requiring basic catalyst.
