Guanine quadruplexes (G4) belong to noncanonical secondary structures of nucleic acids. These structures are usually formed at GC-rich sequences such as promoters of genes or telomeres. By CD spectroscopy and NMR techniques, it was observed that the quadruplex forming sequence is localized at the promoter region of the oct4 gene. Guaninové kvadruplexy (G4) patří do skupiny nekanonických sekundárních struktur nukleových kyselin. In vivo se mohou vyskytovat hlavně v oblastech telomer nebo promotorů genů. Jedním z genů se sekvencí schopnou tvořit G4 ve svém promotoru je gen oct4.
