The importance and effect of toxic plants on pastures for horses

Abstract:

Cílem práce Význam a působení toxických rostlin na pastvinách pro koně je informovat o toxických rostlinách, které se mohou nacházet v okolí chovaných koní v ČR. Přítomnost toxických rostlin na pastvinách se mění v závislosti na změnách klimatu a typu obhospodařování porostu. Otravy rostlinami, jak ze spásání čerstvých rostlin, tak z pozření rostlin v kontaminovaném seně, jsou stále častějším tématem nejen příznivců koní. Důležité je vědět, jak rostlina vypadá a znát přibližnou toxickou dávku. Zpočátku je práce zaměřena na objemná krmiva, která by měla tvořit podstatnou část krmné dávky koní. Dále jsou popsány toxické látky v rostlinách, a také možnosti jejich detoxikace zvířaty. Nebezpečné jsou také plísně, které vznikají při nesprávném skladování krmiv a vysoce energetická krmiva, při jejichž nadměrném zkrmování může dojít ke vzniku laminitidy.

Abstract:

The aim of the work The importance and effect of toxic plants on pastures for horses is to inform about toxic plants that may be found in forage for horses. The presence of toxic plants in pastures varies depending on climate change and the type of crop management. Plant poisoning, both from grazing fresh plants and from eating plants in contaminated hay, is an increasingly common topic not only for horse enthusiasts. It is important to know how the plant looks and know the approximate toxic dose. Initially, the work is focused on herbage, which should form a substantial part of the feed ration of horses. Furthermore, toxic substances in plants are described as well as possibilities of their detoxification by animals. Also moulds pose danger, which arise from improper storage of feeds and concentrates, which overfeeding may result in laminitis.
