The Development of Social Skills in Adults with Intellectual Disability

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá rozvojem sociálních dovedností u dospělých osob s mentálním postižením v oblasti sebeobhajování tedy formulace, projevu a obhájení vlastního názoru ve vybraných domovech pro osoby se zdravotním postižením. Hlavní cílem této práce je zjistit jaké jsou možnosti rozvíjení sociálních dovedností dospělých osob s mentálním postižením v oblasti sebeobhajování jejich vlastního názoru ve vybraných domovech pro osoby se zdravotním postižením a jakým způsobem vybrané domovy pro osoby se zdravotním postižením umožňují svým klientům začleňování se do společnosti. Diplomová práce je rozdělena na část teoretickou a na část empirickou. Teoretická část je tvořena třemi kapitolami zabývajícími se problematikou mentálního postižení, sociálních služeb a sociálních dovedností a konkrétních metod jejich rozvoje u dospělých osob s mentálním postižením. V empirické části jsou stanoveny cíle práce, výzkumné otázky a metodologie. V poslední kapitole jsou uvedeny odpovědi respondentů, které jsou následně analyzovány.

Abstract:

The thesis focuses on the development of social skills in adults with intellectual disability in selected residential facilities for people with disabilities, specifically in the area of self-advocacy that includes formulating, expressing and defending opinions and positions. The main aim of the thesis is to find out what the possibilities of developing the social skills in adults with intellectual disabilities in the area of self-advocasy in the selected residential facilities are, and how these facilities support their clients to formulating, expressing and defending their opinions and positions. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and an empirical part. The theoretical part consists of three chapters dealing with intellectual disability, social services and social skills and specific methods of development of social skills in adults with intellectual disabilities. The empirical part establishes the aims of this thesis, research questions and methodology. In the last chapter there are also presented and analyzed the respondents answers.
